GARAGE BURGLARY/MOTORCYCLE THEFT There has been a recent garage break-in in the Cedar Drive area where a garage was entered and a red Honda 250cc motorcycle was stolen. Owners of motorcycles are advised to increase the security of their vehicles and garages to make it more difficult for thieves. Motorcycles kept within a garage should also be chained to a hardpoint/ground anchor within the garage using a substantial chain and lock. All garage owners should consider the following advice: Don't leave valuables in your garage if you can possibly avoid it. Garden equipment such as chainsaws and motor mowers can be chained together and padlocked to a concreate floor, using secure fixings or a ground anchor, a high tensile cable or chain with a close shackle padlock. Additional security can be obtained by fixing a padlock and hasp to the garage door and frame or into the concreate base. Don't rely on the original garage door lock alone. Ladders should always be locked away to stop a thief from using them. Check you garage regularly.
