The Hall was once again very lucky, a tree came down during the storm and just missed falling onto the building.

Are you implying that the vibrations of clog dancing loosened the roots of the tree?

Is anyone else in the area having problems with regard to refuse collection? For the last 4 weeks we have not had our recycling bins collected. Papers/Cans & Plastics.
When contacted the council give a different reason every week, this weeks excuse is that they broke down before reaching our house. Did anyone else in the area get their recycling collected on Wednesday? Re: Re: Copsale Hall General Forum

Interesting reviews here! http://www.horshampub.co.uk/blackhorse.html
And I see the pub is under new management now according to the board outside! I wonder who that is? Sir Davy Re: Re: Copsale Hall General Forum

Sir Davy
Not sure who the new management are, but I do hope the food improves! As it's only walking distance from where we live, we've eaten there on several different occasions to give it a fair go, only to be disappointed every time I'm afraid to say (even though the specials board looks so promising). Any further local recommendations for good pub grub ? The Countryman, The Crabtree and The Long Room (before it closed) have always been excellent in my experience, as well as Chequers in Rowhook. Where else is worth a punt then ? PS Anyone tried the Silver Wok yet ? Re: Copsale Hall General Forum

I see from our rates demand that Nuthurst Parish Council is going to spend less! Wow, a parish with very few amenities and generally a very wealthy population, has decided that there are not sufficient projects for them to take an interest in.
How about the Green Lanes schemes to reduce accidents, it doesn't have to be a County Council scheme, the parish council could at least fork out for a proper feasibility study. The silly 40 mph signs in the rural lanes have largely disapeared, what a waste of money that was, but it was an easy cop out without having to look at the problem in detail. I think our Parish Councillors should have second thoughts as to where their loyalty lie is it to reduce spending or provide the safety and amenities the parish require. Were you at the Annual parish meeting last Wednesday with any requests?

Resident
There were very few people at the AGM and if you had been there you would your oportunity to comment on the budget and the green lanes. Why don't you offer to operate SID if you are so concerned about speed limits. Another Resident Re: Re: Re: Re: Copsale Hall General Forum

Many of us now have to work out of the area due to the failing local economy and therefore cannot make parish council meetings.
Speed limits do not necessarily reduce accidents and the SID devices will only be operated at times when it is safe to do so and at limited locations. What is required is a proper risk assessment of the, bends, corners & lanes and the mitigations (such as warning signs, road improvements etc) that could be put in place to make it safer for drivers, pedestrians and other users. Speed limits alone will not reduce accidents throughout the parish. I urge the parish councellors to take the lead and arrange for a feasibility study. Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Copsale Hall General Forum

Quiet Lanes projects (not green), please look at the web site and at the pdf documents. Its quite surprising to see how speeds are reduced by simple signage and traffic calming measures suitable for rural areas. No ugly street furniture and definately no useless speed restrictions and SIDs. Why can't the parish council take the lead in this? Resident Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Copsale Hall General Forum

does the parish council ever wonder why so few people turn up at their meetings especially the agm? is it relevant, is it representative?

I am disappointed to see that the ST Leonards road PO is one of those due to close in the next few weeks. Nearest one now presumably the Carfax.
Does anyone know if the PO in Cowfold is due to close as well? Dave T Re: Post Office Closure

Sir Dave
Are you worried about the distance to go and get your pension, or is it that you want to reduce your carbon footprint? The Copsale Eco warriers suggest that you dispense with your gas guzzler 4 x 4 and use the Internet to pay for your stamps and recieve your pension by direct debit into your bank account. Thank you Dennis for your advice and for the knighthood which I could not possibly afford to pay for from the present government.
I was lucky in that I could walk to the PO in St Leonards Road so had no need to use my 4x4. Would you like to car share for the Copsale Hall meeting this Sunday? Your car. Dave T Eastenders come to Copsale

We have a hoax caller in our midst. A woman purporting to be someone we know and requesting a meeting at the White Horse to discuss local things. Probably had a bottle of vodka beside her.. Bit sad really.

Do you know that the field opposite Marelands has apparenetly bee bought by gypsies? The drains are going in at the moment and I have been told the hard standings will be going in soon. What is the Parish council doing?
